Shortlisting an AMC

After sending out your invitation to tender it should be possible to establish suitable AMC companies to meet. The meeting should be held at the AMC premises, preferably in normal working hours. You should expect to be invited to ‘walk around’ the facility and chat informally to staff.

Now that you can actually see the prospect its time to re-visit the selection criteria you applied in the previous section. Are you still convinced they clear the basic hurdles? If so, there are more things to consider.

  1. Flexibility – can the AMC adjust to changing demands?
  2. Importance – is the AMC dependent on one large client? If so, how will that affect your association’s standing with the AMC
  3. Resources – does the AMC demonstrate investment in technology and facilities.
  4. Privacy – How does the AMC protect the confidentiality of clients
  5. Security – Would your data be secure ?
  6. Staff – Are there sufficient staff and what is staff turnover like? Do they seem to be happy and professional?

These are the qualitative judgements you will need to make. Pricing of the contract is dealt with in the separate section.
